First group of 6 Swedish companies joins sustainability programme for New York real estate
The Swedish Energy Agency’s new Skyline programme is now underway. Seven Swedish companies with smart solutions in the property sector will have the opportunity to enter the American market.
Skyline is a tailor-made programme aimed at Swedish small and medium-sized enterprises offering green energy solutions in the real estate and PropTech sector. The programme will provide Swedish companies with support to expand in New York.
During a delegation trip to New York in May, the companies will meet with American real estate companies, government officials and investors to explore the market and present their solutions.
– We look forward to supporting the selected companies and see great potential for their innovations to contribute to the market. We hope that the programme will provide ideas and knowledge for their development on the other side of the Atlantic, says Sandra Ideskär, business developer at the Swedish Energy Agency.
Buildings in New York City currently account for over 70 per cent of the city’s climate emissions. The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and local climate laws have opened up great opportunities to create a greener and more energy-efficient infrastructure. This has led to increased interest in expertise and innovation in the real estate sector in New York – something that creates new and exciting opportunities for Swedish companies.
The first seven companies
In spring 2023, the Swedish Energy Agency invited companies to apply for the new programme, and it is now clear that seven companies have been accepted into the start-up phase of the accelerator programme. Participation in the programme is free of charge for the companies. All that is required of them is commitment and time to work on their launch on the American market in New York.
